Sqwid x True Stars NFT Partnership 🤝 Meet the Final Artist: Fernanda Boccard 🎨

For the grand finale of our True Stars partnership, we’re thrilled to introduce the third and final artist in the series: Fernanda Boccard. Known for her vibrant creativity and deep passion for digital art, Fernanda brings us Pixel PFP Coralina, an NFT that merges storytelling, innovation, and a touch of underwater magic.

Coralina isn’t just any mermaid—she’s a trendsetter of the reef, blending artistry with technology alongside her glow-stick-like fish companion. This pixelated masterpiece captures the essence of Fernanda’s work, where imagination meets digital craftsmanship. And for collectors? There’s something extra special—a physical twin accompanying the NFT, making this drop a true collector’s dream.

In this exclusive Q&A, Fernanda shares her artistic journey, the inspiration behind Coralina, and her creative process. Dive in as we explore the world of pixel art, NFTs, and the magic of blending digital and physical mediums!

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your background as an artist? How did you get into creating NFTs?

I studied film and graphic design. I always loved art and doing creative things. When I was a kid, I used to spend hours drawing in Paint on my first computer. Later, I worked in film and TV, in the art department for movies and series. But painting was something I only did for myself because I enjoyed it.

In 2021, a friend told me about NFTs because he saw my drawings. At first, I didn’t understand anything about them, but I started to learn. It took me two months to understand how they worked, and then I decided to make a collection from scratch.

I had never sold my art before, but NFTs felt like a big chance to share it with more people. That’s when I launched my 1/1 PFP collection called Serious and Cool. It went really well—I sold out! It was such an exciting moment and made me realize I could mix all the things I love into something new.

Tell us more about your NFT character: who are they, where did they come from, and what special features do they have?

Pixel PFP Coralina - Coming to Sqwid 29/01/25

For this NFT, I wanted to try pixel art since I’ve been working a lot with this style for my next collection. It felt like the perfect time to bring this idea to life in pixels.

The character is Coralina, a mermaid guided by the Luminary Fish. One day, stardust from a small star falls into the Reef, waking up Coralina. The magic of the stardust changes her and turns her into a True Star. Coralina learns that creativity and innovation must work together, and she becomes a guide for others to do the same.

Her story is about growth and finding purpose.

Also, the collector has the chance to own the physical piece as well. Honestly, having both the digital and physical pieces is amazing—it’s something really special!

This is an example of the physical piece of work the NFT buyer will receive of Pixel PFP Coralina. Fernanda will make it and send it to the buyer!

Can you walk us through your creative process for creating this NFT? How do you decide on the design, format, and other elements of your digital art?

Pixel art can be pretty limited sometimes, so I decided to create a PFP for this NFT. I thought it would be fun to add the Luminary Fish and coral elements to the design.

I also chose to do it in pixel art because the physical piece looks really cool when made with mosaics that mimic pixels.

This way, both the digital and physical versions have a nice connection and balance.

Lastly, if you could have any superpower to help you create NFTs, what would it be and why?

I’d love to learn how to create art with code. I think the possibilities are endless, and I find it incredibly aesthetic.

It’s not something that’s out of my reach, but I know I need to dive in and really learn it. I’d love to have the superpower to learn it all in one day! It’s definitely one of my goals to master it and explore all that it has to offer in the world of art creation.

Fernanda's special NFT goes on sale tomorrow, Wednesday, January 29, 2025, on Sqwid!
